Titan History: How this Pickup Came to Be
The Nissan Titan made its debut in 2004 and has since become a worthy rival to other full-size pickups on the market. Compared to its competitors, the first Titan had competitive pricing and comparative capabilities and features. In the 2005 model year, Nissan added a standard rear power window, featuring a defroster on the Crew Cab. All models during that year also received a new tailgate along with dampened assist. Rounding out the changes for this model year, the Titan received minor trim updates, updated badging, and active head restraints.
The 2006 Nissan Titan offered a locking rear differential and made MP3 integration standard. A version of the Titan with a larger wheelbase became available in 2008. In addition, the interior was given a complete refresh, with the exterior being updated to match.
The Titan Heavy Metal Package, which would prove popular, became available in 2009. Then in 2010, numerous safety upgrades were introduced, including stability control, curtain airbags, and side airbags. The changes during the following model years remained minimal and the Nissan Titan went on a brief hiatus in preparation for the release of the 2016 Titan XD and the 2017 Titan.
